🎶 Music at Friday Bridge

At Friday Bridge, music is a joyful and essential part of school life. Through theCUSP Music Curriculum, pupils are immersed in a rich and diverse musical journey that builds their confidence, creativity, and love for music.

Our curriculum is designed to help every child become a musician—whether they’re singing, composing, performing, or simply listening with intent. With a strong focus on musical knowledge, technical skill, and cultural appreciation, CUSP Music enables pupils to explore music from around the world and across history.

  • Musical Progression: Pupils build their skills year-on-year—from experimenting with sound in KS1 to performing on glockenspiels and keyboards in KS2.
  • Core Musical Skills: Singing, listening and appraising, composing, improvising, and instrumental performance are woven throughout the curriculum.
  • Cultural and Historical Context: Pupils explore music from a wide range of cultures, traditions, and time periods, making meaningful connections across the curriculum.
  • Language-Rich Learning: Musical vocabulary is explicitly taught and revisited, helping pupils articulate their ideas and responses with clarity and confidence.

🗣️ Talking About Music

We believe that music is not only heard—it’s understood. Pupils are encouraged to reflect on their own musical experiences and respond thoughtfully to the music they hear and create.
