Robins - English & Forest School Autumn B 2021
Fri 10 December 2021

This week in Robins we have been working hard;
In English we have been learning and reciting poems including Ten Thing Found in a Wizards Pocket.
During our Forest school morning we made jewellery.
We then have been making and using joins to make our Tudor house, they are all looking amazing and Robins Class can’t wait to take them home.

Wed 06 October 2021

We’ve been using our bodies as percussion instruments.
In pairs we created repeating patterns (our own version of a musical score)
and practised performing these.
There were lots of smiles and some rather good, inventive attempts!
Here is a quick glance at some of us reading and testing each other’s instructions.

Thu 07 October 2021

We tasted some real astronaut food…it was very strange.
After that we designed our own healthy meal for an an astronaut.
Thank you Emily for being chief photographer in this session!
Wed 06 October 2021

In our history lesson we learnt about the origins of our planet.
Then, we made illustrations of our learning.
Really great questions were asked in this session – excellent thinking Robins!
Sun 10 October 2021

Some of us made ‘leaf kebabs’ this week in our ‘Forest School’ session.
The addition of a fallen apple to act as a stopper, I thought rather ingenious!
Wed 29 September 2021

I wonder if you can see what instigated the up-close investigation?
Snail eggs: discovered under the damp, wet tree trunk cross-sections.
Small, round, white balls containing future slimers and plant-eaters.
We all have a place in the world and we think snails are great fun…..their slime trails makes them even better!
Sometimes, in our sessions we even give them pet names!
Wed 29 September 2021

The children used natural ‘found’ materials to make some beautiful prints this week.
Thu 23 September 2021

We recalled our Science learning from the previous day (about healthy diets) to make our own healthy mini sweet and savoury kebabs.
Excellent knife skills and really tasty work!
Wed 22 September 2021

We have been discussing and exploring the different types of food our bodies need to be healthy.
A dry Forest School session!!!
Tue 21 September 2021

So our forest school session last week was so, so wet! Fun, but wet.
This week we explored the area much easier and with less sogginess!
In the ‘Come On In’ talk time circle we shared ideas of Forest School names we might have.
Berryfield's visit on 17th September
Tue 21 September 2021

Rachel came along with Solo for our first Equine session of the year.
All had a little trot along with Solo and developed their skills with naming parts
of equines’ bodies.
The children’s confidence and progress is lovely to watch in these sessions.
Roots To Food
Tue 21 September 2021

On September the 14th we had a visit from Darren and his Roots to Food session.
This meant the children were able to cook a dish from scratch! The session was fabulous.
The chicken/ quorn teriyaki was delicious. Thank you Darren from Robins class.
Some asked if he could come every week!
Our First School Outing in such a long time!
Tue 21 September 2021

Our Church Visit was fabulous and the children were a true credit to the school.
A special thank you to Michelle and Vicky who were our lovely hosts.
Week of 10th September
Fri 10 September 2021

This first full week back has seen happy familiar faces, and happy new ones too!
Robins Class is full of so much kindness; it’s going to be a great year of busy,
productive, happy learning.
Please do catch me if you need to as I am happy to listen.

Common Exception Word List
Fri 10 September 2021

The words the children will bring home each week are from this list.
I am including this for your reference, should you be interested.
The words are organised as ‘age related’ and ideally your child will already be
familiar with those words from the year group below. If not, their ‘home learning’
will help support sorting this, on top of the work we do in school for this too.
Fingers’ crossed, these words will hopefully be easy to read and spell by the
end of the year.
They will be selected and sent home according to your child’s need and
relevance.

Robins Spring B 2021 - a message from Miss Moulis
Thu 25 March 2021
Well, it sure has been a busy few last weeks of our Spring term here in Robins class!
We have:
written our own version of a Percy the Park Keeper tale;
reminded ourselves about the different steps we can count in backwards and forwards;
compared values;
learnt how to use our number bonds;
looked at how to keep our bodies healthy;
learnt the story of Easter;
built our team game tactics;
designed and built a small ‘building’;
explored junk modelling;
read and been read to;
laughed, smiled and pondered;
……………the list of we haves could go in but……………
best and most important of all we have come back to school happy and busy!
Please do look through a selection of our learning photographs to see if you can work out what we were doing!!!
Miss Brothwell, Miss Wright, Mrs Wye and (of course) Miss Moulis are really looking forward to the adventures/misadventures Robins class has in the Summer Term.
Have a super Easter break,
Miss Moulis and the Robins team.

Equine Facilitated Learning - Autumn B
Tue 15 December 2020

As a class we entered a competition run by Berry Fields Equine Facilitated Learning. Our whole class sent in entries for this, which asked entrants to design an agility course for their equines. We linked the materials we used to our science learning (Materials and their properties) and the children made very original and unique courses. Well done all!

We were developing our tool skills for DT, but also had a blind tasting session.
Could we tell the difference between pumpkin and carrot if we couldn’t see what we were eating?
The answer for most was a resounding NO! :0)
