French at Friday Bridge

We believe that learning another language is an exciting journey into language, culture, and communication. Through the thoughtfully designed CUSP French Curriculum, pupils develop the confidence and curiosity to become young linguists, equipped with the skills to explore the wider world.

Our curriculum is built on evidence-led principles and designed to support all learners—whether they’re new to French or building on prior knowledge. With a strong focus on phonics, vocabulary, grammar, oracy, and cultural understanding, pupils are immersed in the language in meaningful and memorable ways.

🗣️ What Makes Our French Curriculum Impactful?

  • Clear and Consistent Structure: Each block follows a familiar rhythm, helping pupils and teachers build confidence and fluency over time.
  • Language for Life: Pupils learn useful and relevant language linked to real-world topics such as wellbeing, travel, and the environment.
  • Cultural Connections: Lessons include insights into French customs, traditions, geography, and famous figures—broadening pupils’ global awareness.
  • Language-Rich Learning: Vocabulary and pronunciation are taught explicitly and revisited regularly, helping pupils speak, read, and understand French with increasing accuracy.
